National licences

Aiming to achieve a sustainable improvement in the provision with specialist information provided in electronic form at German universities, research institutes and academic libraries, the German Research Foundation finances the purchase of national licenses since 2004. This project includes digital media in the programme of cross-regional literature provision within the framework of the Special Collection Plan of the German Research Foundation. The aim of the project is to provide free access to databases, digital text collections and electronic journals to university researchers, students and private individuals.

Eight institutions currently participate in national license agreements with specialist associations, publishers and other providers of information. These institutions also serve as the contact partners for access to data. Private individuals are able to register for free use of a number of products. For further information, please visit www.nationallizenzen.de.

All national licences are available over DBIS. DBIS is a german website, providing information about databases and other portals. Unfortunally this site is only partly available in english. We provide special information in English on our website. You can search through national licences there, too.

Database information system DBIS

All databases (including databases that are available for free) can be researched over DBIS. This website shows content in english and german and you can switch between languages.

You can use DBIS or use our website, where we show licensed databases only.
